Jadon Sancho is about to finish his second season at the club and, despite having a few stand out moments, he’s yet to hit the consistent great form he enjoyed with Borussia Dortmund. He’s scored goals against the likes of City, Liverpool, Leeds and Chelsea, which understandably have gone down well with the fans, but his time at the club hasn’t gone entirely to plan so far.
Earlier this season he was missing for a couple of months with Erik ten Hag making the decision to send Sancho to Holland to train, with suggestions he was struggling with his mental health.
In United’s 4-1 win over Chelsea on Thursday night, Sancho moved to the right after an early injury forced Antony off and Marcus Rashford came on. He assisted United’s second goal, setting up a simple tap in for Anthony Martial.
Speaking to the press earlier this week, Ten Hag discussed Sancho’s progress and his most suitable position.
He did very well on the right side, and I think he played a very good game today. And I think Jadon Sancho was one of the players who [has made good] progress in this season. And there were many players in our squad who made good progress. I think it’s a good base to build further on.
He can do both, but I think he prefers to play on the left. But we have seen today he is very good on the right as well.
