Manchester United ‘stepping up their pursuit of £40m Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund’ as the Red Devils ‘consider alternative options to Harry Kane’ with Tottenham reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival
- Tottenham are reluctant to sell striker Harry Kane to Manchester United
- The Red Devils could therefore look at other options for the striker position
- Reports suggest they are stepping up their pursuit of Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund
Manchester United are reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Atalanta’s £40m rated striker Rasmus Hojlund.
Erik ten Hag is determined to bring in a new striker during the summer transfer window, with Tottenham star Harry Kane strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford.
However, the Red Devils’ hopes of landing Kane are being challenged by a stubborn Daniel Levy who is reluctant to sell to a Premier League rival – while Real Madrid are also in the race for the £100m star.
This has left United looking at alternative options and Denmark striker Hojlund – who has drawn comparisons to Man City‘s Erling Haaland – has emerged as one of the leading candidates.
The Mirror have reported that United have stepped up their pursuit of the 20-year-old forward.

Hojlund is represented by the SEG agency who also look after Ten Hag which could be an advantage for the Carabao Cup holders.
He only joined Atalanta last summer for £15m – going on to score 16 goals and provide seven assists for the Italian side.
There were reports last week that Ten Hag had held video calls with the youngster.
United have also been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani, and have held talks with the German club about the striker, as reported by The Athletic.
Kolo Muani still has four years left on his contract at Frankfurt, and would be a more expensive option, with the Bundesliga outfit likely to demand up to £68.7m (€80m) for the 24-year-old.
He has just enjoyed the best goalscoring season of his career to date, netting 15 times in the Bundesliga as Frankfurt finished seventh. Only Niclas Fullkrug and Christopher Nkunku (both 16) scored more goals than him in Germany’s top division.
United have also been linked with £80m-rated Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic and Napoli star Victor Osimhen.
However, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has made it clear he has no intention of selling Osimhen this summer, while a deal for Vlahovic would test United’s finances, and they may prefer a cheaper deal for Hojlund or Kolo Muani.
