Bayern Munich is set for a busy summer transfer window as they look to address multiple areas of the squad. The Bavarian club is expected to strengthen the attack by signing a striker to fill the void left by Robert Lewandowski in 2022. Bayern will have to sanction a few departures to make space for the new number nine.
Sadio Mane seems to be the prime candidate for the permanent departure in the attack, while Mathys Tel could go out on loan to get consistent playing time. The French forward may end up staying in the Bundesliga as one German club is interested in signing him on a season-long loan.
According to SportBild (via GGFN), Augsburg is interested in bringing Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern for next season. Die Roten has not made a firm decision on Tel’s immediate future, but Thomas Tuchel has previously hinted that the teenager may have to go out on loan.
Tel’s agent had previously insisted that the forward would not be going anywhere in the summer. The French forward was eager to work in Munich and get the desired experience. However, the departure of Hasan Salihamidzic may alter Tel’s immediate future at the club.
The French striker was considered a signing for the future when Die Roten paid a big fee for him last summer. The German club had beaten competition from other big European clubs to sign Tel from Rennes. The French forward was considered as part of the contingency plan to replace Lewandowski.
The debut season for Tel has been fairly decent. He has shown glimpses of his enormous talent whenever Julian Nagelsmann and Thomas Tuchel brought him off the bench. The French forward is direct and has a good knack for goals. Tel has scored five goals for Bayern in the Bundesliga during his debut season.
The 18-year-old forward will struggle for game time next season if a new number nine arrives at Bayern. Going out on loan will help him to get consistent playing time at the top level. Augsburg will be a very good opportunity for Tel since he will continue to play in the Bundesliga.

Bayern is unlikely to decide on Tel’s future before pre-season. The Bavarian club may keep him for the pre-season training and arrange a loan move later in the transfer window. Considering the quality Tel has shown in limited opportunities this season, more Bundesliga clubs will show interest in him.
