Man United are said to be in a good place during their pursuit to sign Kim Min-jae.
Manchester United Football Club are entering into arguably their most important summer transfer window in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
Erik ten Hag has restored fan faith. Now, it’s down to the club to back their manager. Money has to be spend in order to continue to close the gap on Manchester City atop the table.
Several prospective signings have been heavily linked with an Old Trafford switch. Among them is Napoli centre-half, Kim Min-jae.
The man from South Korea has enjoyed a sensational season, winning a Serie A title along with many individual accolades.
RMC Sport journalist, Fabrice Hawkins, have provided the latest information on Min-jae’s future.
He says that United are currently ‘well positioned’ to ‘attract’ the potential signing to the club this summer.
Kim currently has a release clause inserted into his contract which stands at £40m (€47m), though it’ll only be active for the first couple of weeks in July.
Ordinarily, I’d state that United have more pressing needs than a centre-half. However, players of Kim’s calibre aren’t readily available very often. He’s a top tier defender, who, at age 26, still has some further development ahead.
United have Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire. If the latter leaves this summer, then a case can be made to bring in a new centre-back. Kim is a direct upgrade on the Englishman, while if I were Varane, I’d be worried about my starting place if this deal happens.
It all comes down to where United are at behind the scenes. Is money going to be spent while the ownership of the club remains up in the air? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
