Hannibal Mejbri has outlined his desire to leave Man United this summer.
The Manchester United dressing room remains in the middle of major overhaul. Erik ten Hag will now realise the size of the task at hand, with the Red Devils looking to return to the Premier League summit.
New signings will be brought in, while other players will be sold. It’s only natural to undergo changes aplenty with a new gaffer at the helm.
One man who finds himself on the periphery, after a fairly sizable transfer fee was paid for a player of his age, is Hannibal.
The young man came to Old Trafford with genuine promise, signing from AS Monaco. However, he’s looked a little overexuberant during limited United appearances, while a loan move to Birmingham City last season was fairly average.
Right now, the Tunisia international feels somewhat far away from the first time. That is leading to the player considering his future.
It’s Tunisian media outlet, Ettachkila, with the story. They shared their latest information via Twitter.
Their claim states that the 20-year-old United starlet is ‘inclined’ to leave the club this summer, presumably due to a lack of fist-team opportunities.
Ettachkila don’t rule out the possibility of a ‘dry’ (permanent) transfer away from Old Trafford for Hannibal, while it seems another loan is also an option.
Hannibal is under contract until 2026, so the ball is firmly in United’s court. Ten Hag is under no pressure to sell the midfielder, unless he deems that’s in the best interests of the club.
I guess it all comes down to interest. If there’s sufficient interest in Hannibal, and a good offer comes in, I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s let go for good – particularly as the need for United to generate funds via player sales, in order to supplement their transfer moves, is still there.
