Mason Mount has been given the iconic number 7 shirt at Man United.
Manchester United Football Club have been busy working on this Mason Mount deal for quite some time now, with Erik ten Hag finally being delivered his man.
The Englishman will no doubt be a stunning addition to the squad. He’ll likely walk straight into that team from day one, due to his energy, mobility, forward-thinking skills and hardworking nature.
Mount will train with his teammates for the first time tomorrow as pre-season officially kicks off, with the 24-year-old wanting to hit the ground running.
Before then, the Reds supporters have been pondering on what shirt number will be handed to Mount. Well, I guess nobody expected this.
The club confirmed that Mount will be given the iconic number 7 following his move to Old Trafford.
Many just assumed United were going to hold onto that number until a time when Alejandro Garnacho was ready to be bestowed with the honour. Instead, the club have offered it to Mount, who no doubt grabbed the chance with both hands.
For the Englishman, it’s about living up to that hype. You don’t need me to run down the list of names who have worn that iconic jersey with pride. Mount will know that more than anyone.
Honestly, I genuinely cannot believe that United have managed to steal Chelsea’s best player away from them as he approaches the peak of his powers. This is going to be looked back on as an unreal piece of business in a few years time. I really do think that.
