Man United are looking to reach some middle ground, in an agreement with Inter Milan over the signing of Andre Onana.
Manchester United’s attention has now turned to signing a new goalkeeper. David de Gea is no longer at the club, with Dean Henderson also looking likely to be moved on.
Andre Onana has been the name linked with filling the void. The rumours around the Cameroonian have only increased over the last couple of weeks, with Manchester United and Erik ten Hag looking to seal a reunion between player and manager.
Sky Sports News‘ Melissa Reddy has shared his latest information – and it seems like positive news from a Red Devils’ standpoint.
According to the report, United remain in dialogue with Inter Milan over the potential signing, as the ‘work to find a compromise’ over the transfer fee to sign the player.
That deal is expected to be in the region of £45m, including add-ons. For my money, that would represent a seriously good piece of business.
The opening bid of around £38.5m was rejected swiftly by the Serie A club, but sources close to the player believe there is a ‘desire’ to sort out this transfer before July 13th – which is when Onana is due back at Inter for pre-season.
Sky Sports state that Onana has ‘made clear his intention’ to secure this transfer over the summer, with the player keen on becoming the new number one at Old Trafford.
United are crying out for a ball-playing keeper. Onana would bring that to the table. He’s super comfortable in that role, while he also has a genuine command of the penalty area. Both things would represent direct upgrades on De Gea’s skillset.
