The market for strikers/number nine is complex this summer. Several big clubs, such as Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, PSG, and Chelsea, are looking for a number nine in the same transfer window. Bayern has been linked with several strikers in the past 12 months, but they have decided to push for the signing of Harry Kane.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has emerged as Die Roten’s top target. The Bavarian club had the first bid rejected for the striker. Thomas Tuchel has reportedly held productive talks with the English forward, so personal terms will not be an issue for Die Roten.
Despite getting encouragement from Kane, it is going to be a complex deal to pull off for Bayern. Tottenham has no plans to sell Kane this summer despite the prospect of losing him for nothing next summer. The English club has reportedly offered a new long-term deal to Kane, but the 29-year-old is in no rush to consider a new contract.
Bayern Chiefs decided to make a move for Harry Kane at the end of June. While talking to TZ (via Football Italia) this week, former Bayern president Uli Hoeness insisted that Kane will make an instant impact on the pitch. Hoeness also confirmed Die Roten’s interest in Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani and Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic.
“Kane would fit in very well if you want a guarantee of an immediate impact. But there are a few other candidates. Overall, it’s just a very difficult market. One thing is for sure: no matter what it ends up being, signing a top striker will be expensive.”
“All three would help, Harry Kane and Osimhen may be quicker to settle in. But I’m also excited about the development of Kolo Muani. I also think Vlahović is a good striker.”
Hoeness admitted that Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is out of Bayern’s reach since Napoli will demand a crazy fee for him. He insisted that the likes of Kolo Muani and Vlahovic are long-term options for this role. It remains to be seen which striker Die Roten will pursue if a move for Kane doesn’t materialize.
The English forward will return to training at Spurs next week. Bayern will need him to push for a move to get the deal done. The record Bundesliga champions are expected to lodge an improved bid, but Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is not eager to entertain offers for the club’s all-time top scorer.
Bayern often completes the majority of transfer business before the team leaves for the pre-season tour. This trend is likely to change this summer if Die Roten continues to pursue a deal for Kane. It remains to be seen what kind of bid will test Spurs’ resolve and bring them to the negotiation table.

Die Roten may have to look at other options if there is no movement in the deal for Kane by the end of July. It remains to be seen whether other strikers mentioned by Uli Hoeness will be on the market late in the window. Moreover, the transfer fees for strikers will increase as the transfer window comes to an end. Hoeness is correct, the market for strikers is complex and difficult.
