Man United will look to make Rasmus Hojlund their new first-choice striker.
Manchester United have big goals in mind. The Erik ten Hag era is well and truly underway, with the gaffer looking to secure signings that can take this side to the next level.
Mason Mount has been added, while the chase to acquire a goalkeeper continues. There’s also the need for a new first-choice striker. Several names have been linked with filling that void, including Rasmus Hojlund.
The young Dane enjoyed success for Atalanta in the Serie A last season, despite being so young, aged just 20.
Now, the usually reliable Telegraph have offered an update on Hojlund’s future – and it’s pretty big from a United perspective.
According to the claim, United ‘will bid’ to make the forward their ‘new first-choice striker’ during this transfer window.
United believe they can sign Hojlund for somewhere around the £50m mark, although a deal may have to wait until the resolution of the club takeover process – indicating that Ten Hag’s budget isn’t necessarily as big as it was last term.
Although Hojlund is so early on in his career, he ticks all the boxes for a Ten Hag striker. Great work ethic, clinical finishing ability and stunning movement.
Harry Kane felt like the dream name at the start of the summer, though Hojlund is a player who would provide a genuine longevity here, assuming he is a success in Manchester.
There is an element of risk to this move. Obviously, it’s always tough to gauge how a signing like this is going to pan out. You just never know whether Hojlund will be able to adapt to the Premier League, though he’ll be backing his own talent and ability.
