Man United seem to be heading towards reaching an agreement to sign Andre Onana, after more talks between the Reds and Inter.
David de Gea is now a thing of the past where Manchester United are concerned. The superstar Spaniard chose to walk away for free, after the Red Devils offered the 32-year-old a deal on heavily reduced wages.
Perhaps in the long run, this is absolutely what’s best for the club. De Gea was an incredible servant to United, though it’s necessary to move in a different direction at this stage.
The name heavily linked with filling the void is Andre Onana. The man from Cameroon enjoyed a stellar season with Inter. Now, it looks like he’s going to move on, after just one term over in Italy.
It’s Sky Sports News with the latest. They state that United are ‘edging closer’ to an agreement to sign the 27-year-old, after more talks between the clubs have taken place.
It is thought a compromise over the transfer fee is close to being reached, after positive discussions between the clubs. Previously, Inter were refusing to move from their £51m asking price.
Personal terms will not be a problem, with a real willingness to get a deal done between all parties. Sources close to the player want a resolution before Inter’s pre-season officially kicks off tomorrow – so hopefully, we’ll hear something concrete soon.
Onana is the sort of signing that will completely change the way this side plays football. Having that shot-stopper who can pass out from the back will ensure United enjoy way more possession than they have been over the last few years.
Let’s hope a deal is fully official before United’s next pre-season game in a week’s time.
