Man United could yet make Dean Henderson their number 1 for the upcoming season.
Manchester United are seemingly pushing hard to sign Andre Onana this summer, with the Red Devils looking to fix their issues at the number one position.
The man from Cameroon had an excellent campaign for Inter, performing well both as a shot-stopper and with the ball at feet. However, with Inter’s pre-season starting today, time could be running out for the Reds to try and sign him.
In that event, United will have to turn their attention elsewhere. According to the Daily Mail, Dean Henderson could be that guy…
The report claims that United have ‘not ruled out’ making the 26-year-old their number one goalkeeper for the upcoming season.
Inter are holding out for £51m to let Onana leave, while United haven’t made an offer since their £43m bid. The Reds are insisting they will not go above that offer.
Henderson has been attracting interest from Nottingham Forest this summer – after a successful loan move to the newly-promoted Premier League side last term.
The Englishman is currently out injured, which obviously doesn’t help his case. Yesterday would have been the perfect opportunity to see Hendo in action. However, if he cannot stay fit, then that’s just another negative mark against his name.
I have to be honest. I’d be surprised if Henderson is still at the club beyond this summer. That said, Ten Hag has no reason to lie and if he genuinely is considering looking at keeping Hendo and giving him his shot, we have to take that in good faith.
