Man United remain locked in talks with Inter Milan over the signing of Andre Onana.
Manchester United Football Club need a new goalkeeper. We’ve said that daily here at Old Trafford Faithful ever since the news about David de Gea was confirmed.
There was some talk that Dean Henderson could be in line for the starting job, though I honestly find that tough to believe. He burned bridges at United when he headed to Nottingham Forest on loan.
Andre Onana feels like the number one target, though with Inter Milan’s pre-season now underway, there’s a real chance they’ll hold firm and keep the man from Cameroon, in order to not disrupt their flow going into the campaign.
Well, Fabrizio Romano has provided a positive update in that regard. He took to Twitter yesterday afternoon to confirm that United’s talks to sign the player are ‘ongoing’.
Romano went onto state that there’s ‘optimism’ about the deal, with the clubs negotiating the player’s transfer. He also claims more information will follow.
At this point, it feels like it’s all or nothing. Onana is the only name that’s consistently being linked with filling that void and I’m not sure the club have any other concrete options at this moment in time.
One thing is for certain. Ten Hag wants a goalkeeper who can play out from the back. Onana would bring that to the table in abundance, which can only be viewed as a positive.
Hopefully, United and Inter can keep having positive conversations about the transfer as we approach the weekend, with a deal being reached in the not too distant future. The earlier it’s done, the better it is for all involved.
