FC Barcelona are looking to bring Marc Jurado back to the club, after he joined Man United a few years ago.
Manchester United Football Club are currently in the midst of major change, with Erik ten Hag looking to return the side back to its past glory.
This pre-season tour feels like a vital one. The Red Devils named a youthful squad for the 2-0 victory over Leeds United, with several emerging youngsters proving their qualities and looking like they have what it takes to make it at the highest level.
Among them was Marc Jurado. The full-back played the second half, looking super composed on the ball while putting in a strong defensive performance. It was the first time Jurado has played for the senior side – and he absolutely didn’t look out of place against an experienced Leeds United squad.
Well, a certain former club of Jurado’s was also taking note; FC Barcelona.
Journalist @QueThiJuges has provided an update on the brewing saga. He says that the Catalan club are ‘working on’ a deal to sign the emerging United starlet.
Jurado, who came from La Masia, is said to be ‘negotiating’ a return to Barca, who are keen on making the reunion happen.
It’s said that the transfer ‘operation’ would be at a reduced fee, due to the deal being based on performance ‘objectives’.
While Barca may be trying to cut costs by making this a performance-based transfer, I’m not sure United will be agreeing to that anytime soon.
The ball is firmly in their court, with Jurado under contract and seemingly enjoying life in Manchester. They will not sell the young right-back, unless the price is right for them.
In an ideal world, Jurado will remain at the Theatre of Dreams, though I understand the lure to head back to his homeland. This is always going to be the case when you sign players from other elite clubs, particularly when they have a real affinity to that side.
