Man United are closing in on sealing a deal to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
Manchester United Football Club allowed David de Gea to leave a couple of weeks ago, with the Red Devils on the hunt for a new number one ever since.
The Old Trafford side have relied upon their superstar Spaniard for a decade-plus. Replacing such a fan favourite was never going to be an easy task – though Erik ten Hag seemingly has a plan.
The Dutch gaffer has often swayed towards signing players he’s familiar with. Ten Hag worked with Andre Onana at Ajax, with the boss now looking to seal yet another reunion.
A deal to bring in the man from Cameroon has been edging closer with each passing day. Journalist Fabrizio Romano has been right on top of the story from day one. He’s back with another update.
Apparently, it’s ‘just (a) matter of time’ before United complete the signing, with the final details to be sorted. There are ‘no serious issues’ holding up the transfer right now.
According to the claim, United and Inter spoke on Friday and ‘almost agreed’ the structure of a deal, that’ll eventually total around £47m (€55m).
All that’s left to discuss is the payment terms of the deal. Once those are all signed and sealed, Onana will become the latest Red Devil.
Credit to the club, who seem to be getting their business done far earlier this summer. They deserve huge praise for pushing a Mason Mount deal through, then swiftly moving onto this Onana transfer.
Hopefully, it’s done before the lads jet off to America for the main bulk of their pre-season, so Onana can get comfortable with his new teammates.
