Man United are working hard to bring in Benjamin Pavard, with a first offer now submitted.
Manchester United Football Club are looking to make a defensive signing capable of replacing Harry Maguire this summer.
The Englishman remains a Red Devil for now, though a transfer to West Ham United is looking likely.
As a result, Erik ten Hag has to find the ideal player to bring in. Several names have been linked with filling the void, including Benjamin Pavard.
The defender has struggled ever since moving to Bayern Munich, with the Frenchman looking for a move away in order to revive his career.
Florian Plettenberg has provided the latest on that front. According to the journalist, United ‘is pushing’ to sign the 27-year-old defender this summer, while a first official offer has been submitted to Bayern.
Sadly, that bid was turned down, though the player is ‘very open’ to a United transfer this summer, with a verbal agreement in place.
Pavard’s versatility is absolutely his biggest selling point. The Frenchman is capable of playing at both the centre-back and right-back position, giving Ten Hag another option in a couple of key areas.
There’s no doubting Pavard’s ability and skill. Perhaps he needs this change in scenery to once again prove that he is a very capable player at the highest level. Sometimes, it just doesn’t work out in specific situations and that appears to be the case here.
For a relatively decent transfer fee, Pavard could prove to be an excellent scoop for the Red Devils. My only concern is that he may not be happy with his bit-part role if he makes the move to Manchester.
