According to reports in Italy, Man United are finally preparing a bid to sign Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. The Italian club have given the go-ahead to sign the Moroccan international, but the Red Devils are yet to submit an offer.
United have already spent more than £170million on Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund. However, the need for more reinforcements was clearly evident during the club’s 2-0 loss to Tottenham. The club are focused on signing Amrabat, but FFP restrictions are inhibiting the move. the Fiorentina midfielder
The Red Devils had earmarked the 26-year-old since the beginning of the summer transfer window, but the restrictions have hindered a deal. Nevertheless, the midfielder is also eager to move to Old Trafford and this willingness is certainly a good signal for the club, with rivals Liverpool also courting a transfer.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla (via The Hard Tackle), Man United have accelerated the efforts to sign Sofyan Amrabat and are planning to submit an offer to secure a deal. Meanwhile, personal terms have already been agreed between United and the midfielder.
Moreover, as reported by the Mirror, Fiorentina chief executive Giuseppe Barone have given the 20-time English champions the green light to secure a move for the Morocco international. The Italian club are ready to sell the player and will consider offers around £21m, as per the report.
However, the Financial Fair Play regulations are currently plaguing the Old Trafford outfit as the club need to sell players first before acquiring any new players. The Red Devils are facing difficulties in getting good prices for their transfer-listed players. Despite selling Fred, a deal for Donny van de Beek or Scott McTominay is required before a move for the Fiorentina midfielder can materialise.

Man United need Sofyan Amrabat more than ever now. Summer signing Mason Mount could be on the sidelines for the next four to six weeks. The Englishman was substituted after suffering a hamstring injury during the defeat at Tottenham. Previously, it was thought to be a minor injury, but the midfielder could be out until early October.
Moreover, academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo was tipped to be a first-team member this season after an impressive pre-season. However, he picked up an injury against Real Madrid and is set to miss the first half of the 2023-24 campaign. Also, Christian Eriksen lacks the pace and energy to play against bigger opponents.
If the Amrabat deal goes through, he will be the least expensive signing for Man United this summer. On the other hand, from a strategic point of view, the 26-year-old could be one of the most important signings for Erik ten Hag. Such a low fee for the Moroccan is a bargain for the Red Devils.
Why Man United Should Sign Sofyan Amrabat As Soon As Possible?
Manchester United were relaxed with the thought that Kobbie Mainoo would be available as a backup option for Casemiro, but the former’s injury has changed the scenario. It means the Brazilian will have to play almost every match in the first half of the season. However, his disciplinary record and dangerous tackling can become an issue to his availability.
Why does Manchester United need to sign Sofyan Amrabat?
✅ Controlling the tempo
✅ Press resistant
✅ Defensive contributions
✅ Long ball passes with high accuracy %
✅ Rotate with Casemiro
✅ Prime age (26)
✅ Worked with Erik Ten Hag before
✅ Affordable price (€30M) pic.twitter.com/AMePBHupGJ— Total Ten Hag 🇳🇱 (@total10hag) July 3, 2023
Moreover, the Red Devils are also willing to let Scott McTominay leave with Fred already joining Fenerbahce. To avoid leaving any void and to have a smoother transition in midfield, the club need to secure the services of Amrabat as soon as possible. The Moroccan will have to slot into the United midfield without taking much time to get accustomed to his new surroundings.
It was the same situation for Casemiro but he took very little time to get settled and he grew into one of the best players for Ten Hag’s side within a short period of time. The overall wage bill will also look healthier once Man United get rid of McTominay, Donny, and Maguire while bringing in Amrabat.
