Marc Cucurella would be keen on a move to Man United this summer.
Manchester United may find themselves forced into further transfer action this summer. Erik ten Hag is without Luke Shaw for what looks like the foreseeable future, while Tyrell Malacia is also out injured.
The links to new left-backs have been frequent over the last couple of days. Perhaps none more so than Marc Cucurella. The Spaniard has struggled since moving to Chelsea last year. Hence, a move away could make sense.
Now, Marca have an update on Cucurella’s future. They say that United continue to ‘shore up’ their squad for the season before the window slams shut. Injuries to the aforementioned duo have forced the club into action, with Ten Hag having ‘set his sights’ on Cucurella.
Marca have learned that the player ‘would welcome his arrival’ at Man United, with negotiations of the terms already taking place for the Spaniard to become a Red Devil.
Cucurella cost Chelsea big money twelve months ago, though he has struggled to rediscover the brilliant form he displayed at Brighton the season prior.
Marca also add that Cucurella’s arrival would mean the departure of Alvaro Fernandez, who wasn’t utilised against Nottingham Forest at the weekend despite the mass injuries in his position.
The verdict
Of all the names linked so far, Cucurella is the one that I like the idea of the most. Forget Marcos Alonso and Sergio Reguilon. The Chelsea man has genuine quality on both sides of the ball, he’s also hungry to prove his worth.
I actually think this could be one of those loan moves that turns into something more long-term, all being well. Cucurella has struggled so Chelsea wouldn’t mind moving him on. I guess it’d all come down to what sort of future transfer fee they’d ask for…
