Man United may have to cope without Raphael Varane for the next month-and-a-half.
When it rains, it pours. Manchester United’s start to the season has been pretty average. For Erik ten Hag, the problems are starting to mount.
The Red Devils gaffer has an injury crisis on his hands. The treatment room seems to be gaining a new member by the day.
It’s Raphael Varane’s turn to suffer a problem. The Frenchman came off at half-time last time out. At the time, we assumed it was a precautionary measure.
Sadly, our worst fears have come true. The World Cup winner actually has a semi-serious issue and he will miss the Arsenal game at the very least.
According to Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol (via Football Daily), United have been dealt a major blow, with the star potentially out injured for the next six weeks. As a result, Harry Maguire will not be allowed to leave the Theatre of Dreams this month.

You honestly couldn’t make it up. Suddenly, United are down half their starting defenders, with some huge games on the horizon. Coping without Luke Shaw and now Varane for at least a month is not going to be easy.
With time running out in the transfer window, I genuinely have no faith in the club to replace these players, even with short-term loan signings. All this does is increase the pressure on everyone, from the gaffer, to the playing squad.
Let’s hang on to the shred of hope that Solhekol isn’t quite sure the exact length of the problem, but he’s usually bang on the money and I am fearing the worst.
