Nottingham Forest have wrapped up a loan deal to sign Portuguese youngster Nuno Tavares from Arsenal, with a view to a permanent move. The City Ground outfit will pay £2.1 million for the year long deal and this provides Tavares an opportunity to once more impress in the Premier League.
After a season with Marseille, the French Ligue 1 side had a chance to sign the left-sided defender on a permanent deal, but opted not to take up that deal. Nuno Tavares initially impressed in France, but disciplinary problems and performance issues gradually ended his stay in Ligue 1.
Mikel Arteta has made no secret of his disappointment with the former Benfica player, and it is hoped that a move to Nottingham will resurrect his career in England.
It is understood that Nottingham Forest can sign the player on a permanent basis for £10 million at the end of the 2023/24 campaign. Director of football at Arsenal, Edu, had been looking to sell the player immediately but ultimately the best that could be done is a temporary transfer.
