The travelling party for Man United away vs Arsenal is now in, with a 21-strong squad heading South for this one.
Manchester United’s biggest game of the season so far is upon us. The Red Devils head South to take on Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium. Mikel Arteta’s men came close to the title last season, so it goes without saying, this will be a tough test for Erik ten Hag and his squad.
The sides won a game apiece last season, though The Gunners were probably the better team over the two matches. United will be looking to put that right here, in what is always a massive fixture when these two sides clash.
United have been underwhelming in their opening few matches, though they did conduct some decent transfer business on deadline day. You’d hope that will offer a lift to the whole squad – which is suffering from injuries all over the field right now.
Anyway, the Manchester Evening News‘ reporters spotted a 21-man travelling party for this one, including both Rasmus Hojlund and new signing Sergio Reguilon. Back-up keeper Altay Bayindir has also travelled with the squad.
Check out the MUFC squad in full here:
Goalkeepers: Bayindir, Onana, Vitek
Defenders: Dalot, Evans, Lindelof, Maguire, Martinez, Reguilon, Wan-Bissaka
Midfielders: Casemiro, Eriksen, Hannibal, Fernandes, Gore
Forwards: Antony, Hojlund, Garnacho, Martial, Rashford, Pellistri.
Obviously, it’s great to see Hojlund out there and judging by what the gaffer said, there’s a good chance he starts this one. We’re all eager to see the Dane in action and it appears he’s ready to show the world his ability.
The other big selection headache comes at left-back. United can either stick with Diogo Dalot, or throw Sergio Reguilon right into the fire. The Spaniard has experience against Arsenal, having played for their fierce rivals Spurs.
Aside from that, you’d expect the rest of the team to be as is. There’s no Scott McTominay or Jadon Sancho which is interesting. The former being missing pretty much confirms that we’re going to see a midfield three of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes here.
You’d expect this to be an attacking game, with both teams looking to get forward on the front foot. It’s going to be an exciting one…
