Man United are sweating on the fitness of a first-team trio ahead of the Crystal Palace Premier League game.
Manchester United were comfortable during their 3-0 victory at home to Crystal Palace in the cup on Tuesday. Now, the sides meet again in the Premier League.
Both line-ups will drastically change for this encounter, meaning this time around it’s going to be much tougher for the Old Trafford side.
Ahead of the game, the Manchester Evening News have confirmed United are sweating on the fitness of a first-team trio. The club ‘will assess’ all three players before Saturday’s match.
Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen and Sergio Reguilon all missed the Carabao Cup tie with illness. The latter played through the pain barrier to take on Burnley on Saturday night, though he was still feeling the effects in midweek, hence, his exclusion.
The MEN stress that with a four-day gap in between matches, there’s ample time for the players to recover and get themselves back fit. However, you have to be wary with illnesses and viruses. You don’t want to bring these guys back into the mix too early, risking further players being infected.
With Sofyan Amrabat looking sharp at left-back, I’m not as worried as I would have been a few days ago – though in an ideal world, the man from Morocco is able to move back into midfield as Reguilon has impressed in that left-back role.
As for Eriksen and McTominay, they may well find it tough to break back into the team upon their return. Mason Mount looked good on Tuesday, as did both Hannibal and Casemiro.
There’s plenty of decisions to ponder for the gaffer in that area of the field.
Do you think we’ll see any of these guys back out on the field this weekend? Let us know your thoughts in the comment box below.
