Man United have eyes on Federico Chiesa, with a winter window deal potentially in the offing.
It doesn’t look like there’s any way back for Jadon Sancho, who remains completely exiled from the first-team fold. It has been said that their relationship is now beyond repair.
With Antony still out of the loop for however long, Erik ten Hag has a real predicament on that right-hand side of his attack. Facundo Pellistri has been utilised out there most recently and he’s done a decent enough job.
However, United need someone reliable, someone who’ll guarantee goals and assists, while fitting perfectly in line with his way of playing. According to the stories, that man is Federico Chiesa.
It’s Calciomercato.it with the story. Sport Witness provided the translation. They say United are eyeing a move for the 25-year-old winger, who currently plies his trade for Juventus. It’s stated that the Italian is said to be viewed as a Sancho replacement.
Calciomercato add that United want to secure a deal to sign Chiesa ‘as early as January’, though he’d cost a pretty penny as Juventus will not sell for anything below £52m. I’m honestly not sure where United are going to find that sort of money from in the mid-season window, particularly when their budget was so strict over the summer.
Sport Witness say this could be a case of Chiesa drumming up interest from elsewhere in order to earn himself a new, big-money deal at Juventus. We’ve seen this happen many times before so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case again here.
If Chiesa is serious about leaving Turin, I’d love to see him brought to Old Trafford. We’d finally have some stability in a key area of the field.
