Casemiro has been dealt a new injury concern, with the midfielder now set to be absent for the game against Fulham this weekend.
Manchester United just cannot catch a break at the moment. Largely, it’s all their own making. The Red Devils are being run into the ground by their owners, with those struggles now filtering down. It was always going to happen.
Yesterday’s clash against Newcastle United as between two sides who are heading in completely opposite directions. Erik ten Hag’s season can somewhat be explained due to injuries. Those problems continued.
Casemiro had to be taken off at half-time with a fresh injury blow. After the game, the gaffer would confirm that the player is now ‘definitely’ out of the Premier League game vs Fulham this weekend. The severity of the issue is not yet known, though the Dutch manager seemed pretty confident that he will not be available on Saturday. united have not been helped by the fact that they’re the early kick off.
Check out what Ten Hag had to say in full here:
“Just before half-time, he got an injury. That’s why we had to take him off.” Ten Hag told the media, including ManUtd.com. “We have to wait 24 hours, but I think definitely for Saturday, he is out.”
Much like with the Raphael Varane ‘illness’, I have my doubts about this one, too. I’m not 100% convinced that Casemiro is actually injured. Instead, he’s getting fed up of playing for this team. He’s also been linked with a big-money move to the Far East. I couldn’t blame him if he took that opportunity.
I’m starting to think Casemiro leaving may actually be for the best. He’s on a huge contract here in Manchester, that runs for another four-and-a-half years. He’s definitely not the player he was a year ago when he signed – be it due to a lack of effort, interest or just purely because he’s getting older.
It just further highlights what sort of a mess United are in right now. The club needs some major overhauling. Sooner rather than later.
