Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Jonny Evans will be unavailable for Man United for the game vs Luton Town tomorrow.
With each game, an injury feels inevitable. Sadly, it’s just the way this season is going for Manchester United Football Club. Erik ten Hag has been dealing without many key faces for prolonged periods of time. He’s been keen to ensure it isn’t used as an excuse, but at this point, it’s becoming a real determining factor.
The latest player to go down with a problem was Jonny Evans. The Northern Irishman had to be substituted off in the first half of the game against Copenhagen in midweek with an unspecified problem.
Evans had been a regular starter over the last few weeks, playing some solid defensive football in all honesty – which was somewhat surprising given he was only signed as a rotation option at best.
Ahead of the game against Luton Town tomorrow, Ten Hag conducted his pre-match press conference and confirmed that the player ‘is out’ for tomorrow, while the club are still waiting for the ‘full assessment’ to learn the true extent of the issue.

“So we don’t have, in this moment, the full assessment and all the details but, tomorrow, he is out,” The boss told the media, including ManUtd.com.
“I can’t say [if he can go away with Northern Ireland] as we don’t have the finished assessment.”
It does just sum up our season. Whether it’s bad luck, or something going on in training that’s affecting these players remains to be seen. No doubt Ten Hag is cursing at just how many players he has lost for prolonged periods of time.
Replacement-wise, there are two options for the gaffer. Raphael Varane came off the bench in midweek and played pretty poorly in truth. It could explain why he has been benched in favour of Evans over the last few weeks.
The other potential replacement, and the more likely one in my opinion, is Victor Lindelof. The Swede had been nursing an illness last weekend but he’s fit and ready to play if needed. The gaffer also tends to prefer having one right-footer and left-footer in his backline, so from that point of view, the pendulum tilts in Lindelof’s favour.
