Victor Lindelof has been named in the BBC Team of the Week after they beat Luton Town over the weekend.
Manchester United are not playing well at the moment. That much is obvious. Erik ten Hag is not being helped by mass injuries that are currently decimating the playing squad. It means he’s really up against it at present. Though no side has more points over the last five Premier League games than the Red Devils…
Sometimes, it’s not about the performance. More about the toughness and mental fortitude to secure a result even when not playing well in a dressing room that’s low on confidence. That’s exactly what happened over the weekend as United squeezed out a 1-0 win at home to Luton Town.
The sole goal of the game came from an unlikely source in the form of Victor Lindelof, with the Swede firing home after a goalmouth scramble. The Ice Man was also solid defensively throughout this one.
As a result, Lindelof was the one Man United star named in the latest BBC Team of the Week following the massive three points. It’s a team including top players like Alisson and William Saliba.

Credit to Lindelof, who, like Harry Maguire, has worked his way back from real adversity at the Theatre of Dreams. Not too long ago, he was deemed not good enough by supporters. Ever since the Lisandro Martinez injury, the Swede has come in and made that left centre-back slot his own.
He’s playing with real confidence and genuine control. We’re now seeing the player that the club decided to spend a big chunk of money on. He deserves massive credit for not wilting under the pressure and turning things around. As things stand, he’s probably the centre-back I trust the most, all things considered.
The goal, combined with another solid defensive outing, will only be another boost to his individual confidence levels, too.
Congratulations, Victor!
