Casemiro isn’t trying to escape from Man United in the January transfer window.
Manchester United’s midfield is definitely among the problem areas this season. The club have suffered injuries in that position, though too many players just aren’t performing up to their standards.
Mason Mount has looked average so far. Christian Eriksen is getting any younger. Sofyan Amrabat looks a little off the pace. That may change as he continues to play more minutes for the Red Devils.
Perhaps the biggest problem has been Casemiro. The midfielder was world-class last term, though he looks a little rusty/older/disinterested at present. He’s also out injured for the foreseeable, which is less than ideal…
Rumours of a potential switch to Saudi Arabia recently surfaced. After all, it seems like many of the best older players are taking their big payday and moving to their Pro League. I would not have been surprised to hear that Casemiro wanted to follow suit.
However, according to GiveMeSport, that isn’t the case. Their reporter, Ben Jacobs, believes that the United player is not looking to ‘jump ship’ in the mid-season window.
The article does not rule out a summer swoop from Saudi clubs for Casemiro, but it is good to know that the ex-Real Madrid man will remain at the Theatre of Dreams until at least that point.
It’s a tough situation for United. Casemiro is on massive wages on a super-long contract, so there’s a genuine possibility that they decide to cash in on him and let him go. I guess it all comes down to what United want. Though my answer to the question about whether you would sell Casemiro if the right offer comes in has changed since the end of last season…
