The player in question is Jesse Lingard.
Lingard was part of Nottingham Forest’s successful survival squad last campaign but flattered to deceive and was released after netting twice in 20 games.
He had trials with Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia but a contract did not come to fruition and since then the 31-year-old has been training alone.
After an association with Manchester United spanning more than two decades, his Premier League career looked in tatters in 2020/21 when he fell out of favour and didn’t make a single league appearance in half a season.
He played for Nottingham Forest last season but was released after failing to find form
However, a loan move to West Ham in the second half of that campaign reminded everybody of just how effective he can be,
He found the form of his career there, scoring nine goals in 16 games, but did not move to the London outfit permanently.
That was three seasons ago, though, and Lingard will be keen to get back to his betst form quickly if any move to a club transpires.
