It’s a good old fashioned mind-game off at the press conferences ahead of this weekend’s Carabao Cup final.
Jurgen Klopp has called Chelsea favourites, now Mauricio Pochettino has struck back and insisted the Reds are favourites.
Neither side wants to give the psychological advantage to the other, while both probably have some justification to think they genuinely are underdogs. Liverpool have been shredded by injuries, while Chelsea were shredded by Liverpool less than a month ago.
It’s going to be a 50/50 game it looks like, with both sides pretending to be outsiders. When the whistle blows, all bets are off…
