West Ham United have a truly nightmarish run of Premier League fixtures on the horizon.
West Ham face Premier League games away at Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United, and home matches against Manchester United, Everton and Arsenal all before the end of November.
However, after that, things should get better for us, and the Premier League have just made things even easier for the Hammers.
Julen Lopetegui has endured a tough start in charge at the London Stadium. However, the 4-1 win against Ipswich greatly eased the pressure on him.
It was actually suggested before the Ipswich game that Lopetegui’s job was under threat.
And whilst I don’t necessarily believe that to be true, he will be under the microscope if things don’t improve over the next month or so.
With some tough fixtures on the horizon, the Hammers head coach will be nervous about what lies ahead.
However, West Ham have seemingly been handed somewhat of a reprieve for the run of games just after that six-game batch of fixtures…
West Ham handed December boost as Premier League make announcement
The Hammers face a run of games in December that are far more winnable than our next six outings.
West Ham have matches against Leicester, Wolves, Bournemouth, Brighton and Southampton in a 23-day period up until Boxing Day.
And now, things have got even better for the Hammers.
That’s because the Premier League have announced changes to two of those matches for TV purposes.
The games against Leicester and Wolves have been changed to Tuesday December 3rd at 8:15pm and Monday December 9th at 8pm respectively.
That means that West Ham will have a six-day break during a notoriously busy period in the Premier League.
That break could be crucial for the Hammers, as the rest of the Premier League teams slog through the month of December.
If Lopetegui and his players can find a way of getting eight or nine points at least from our next six games, the West Ham fans should have every right to feel optimistic.
The run of matches in December will be there for the taking for us.
The change in dates for the Leicester and Wolves games should really help us in our quest to climb the table before and after Christmas.
