Minutes from the London Stadium Safety Advisory Group have published the Met Police’s end-of-season report for West Ham home games from last season.
West Ham’s designated police officer Andy Sheldon has revealed there were 27 home fixtures last season of which 15 were low risk, 11 medium and 1 high risk by the Met police footballing unit.
Sheldon said there was a positive decrease in pitch incursions but an increase in public order offences, violence and drug-related incidents at West Ham home games. Investigations into these matters were still in progress at the time of the meeting.
He advised more work is needed to empower London Stadium stewards to confidently follow through with assault allegations. In the future, the Met Police will be attending stewards’ briefings to provide additional support and guidance going forward. Significant work is being done in the background between the police and CPS to address these issues and concerns. LS185 continues to support and encourage the stewards to pursue allegations against supporters.
He added that policing of low-risk fixtures is also under review, there have been no major significant issues or concerns during last season.
In the minutes it was claimed that fifty supporters received football bans last season.
