The atmosphere at London Stadium is one of the most oft-discussed topics around social media sites and fan groups – apart from the obvious current woeful league form! Having been there on rocking European – semi finals nights and some utterly silent league or cup fixtures, I know from first-hand experience how unpredictable the wall of noise from Hammers fans can be. At its best it is like a twelfth player in the team.
Calling out the Hammers’ faithful to make a difference, Alan Shearer surprised many with his prediction that the Hammers can get a result on Sunday with the crowd acting as West Ham’s secret weapon to drive the Irons to a victory!
Speaking to metro.co.uk, Shearer comments: “This is tough to predict because of the unpredictability of Man United.
Can they kick on and get another result like last weekend? I suspect not. The pressure may be right back on them this weekend. West Ham, with the atmosphere at the London Stadium may have enough to take the points on Sunday just as they did in their last home game against Manchester United last season.”
And in conclusion the ex England Captain and BBC pundit claims:” I am going to pick West Ham to win.”
How bad can Manchester United be? Injury problems, Manager Issues- and a tepid draw on Thursday night in Turkey plus the travelling to and fro does leave them vulnerable. What kind of a boost would Lopetegui, the team and every claret and blue fan get from turning over the Red Devils?
Getting goosebumps just thinking about it. Which normally leads to massive disappointment.
I’ll have faith in Alan Shearer’s opinion until 2.00 Sunday.
