West Ham ARE looking to do business in the January transfer window, but as Sean reported yesterday, the club will need to offload players first.
That being said, there remains a desire within the club to support the manager, who has found his squad somewhat unbalanced.
There have been numerous reports that Hammers head coach Julen Lopetegui has asked the club to bring in an additional striker to strengthen the team. The Spaniard has decided that while he hopes Niclas Füllkrug returns from injury and makes an impact, he won’t rely solely on the German forward and will view his return more as a bonus.
When Claret & Hugh asked our top source at the club whether they plan to add to Lopetegui’s forward line, we were told: “We will, but only if we get departures, as we are right up against the rules, and no Euro income hurts! BUT never say never.”
Who those departures will be remains uncertain, as Martin detailed earlier, but it has been confirmed that West Ham will actively look to offload a few players in January.
