At 28 years old, Leroy Sané is in the prime earning years of his career and is about to cash in another contract next summer. At the moment, he remains focused on negotiating an extension with Bayern Munich. If Sané is forced into a pay cut or unfavorable terms, he won’t find a shortage of elite clubs vying for his services.
According to SportBild’s Christian Falk (via @iMiaSanMia), the vultures are already circling.
Arsenal and Manchester United are interested in Leroy Sané, but the player’s priority remains FC Bayern at the moment. Sané and Bayern have not spoken about concrete numbers yet. The winger earns around €15m base salary per year which can go up to €20m relatively easily with bonuses (€1m for every 6 appearances). United and Arsenal would be serious options for Sané if negotiations with Bayern fell through.
Since his return from injury, Sané’s form has improved with each passing game. He scored a goal against Bochum and Mainz then played the role of super sub in this week’s 1-0 Champions League over Benfica.
In an ideal world for Bayern’s board, Sané will continue to improve this season and sign a three-year extension at a reduced salary before the January transfer window.
