West Ham United were held to a 0-0 draw by Everton at the London Stadium on Saturday.
Julen Lopetegui is under severe pressure now, after his West Ham players were unable to break down a fairly well-drilled Everton side.
The Hammers head coach seems to be bereft of ideas of how to change things, and he is confusing the players with his gesticulations on the sidelines.
It has been a woeful first few months in charge at the London Stadium for Lopetegui, with his side having taken just 12 points from our opening 11 Premier League games.
The Times claim that showdown talks between David Sullivan and Tim Steidten are pencilled in for this week, although it’s worth noting that club insiders have refuted that suggestion.
However, the West Ham owners definitely should be concerned by the current state the team is in.
Perhaps Sullivan and co should take a look at one hugely concerning photo that has emerged from Saturday’s clash with Everton.
Photo from Everton game will fill West Ham fans with dread
We all know that Saturday’s performance against the Toffees was unacceptable, it really is as simple as that.
The players weren’t good enough, that goes without saying, but Lopetegui’s tactical setup was all wrong in my opinion.
The game against Everton was a must-win, and West Ham failed to get all three points due to an incredibly tepid, passive performance.
It’s fine to find fault with the players, but Lopetegui was to blame for the 0-0 bore draw in my opinion.
The below photo was posted on X by @BabblingIrons, and it tells a really grim story.
I’m sorry, but that is truly unacceptable, it really is. It’s like we are a League Two side coming up against prime Manchester City.
Playing at home against a team like Everton and having 11 men sitting back deep when the ball is in their half is beyond ridiculous.
Considering the attacking players the Hammers have, we should be pressing aggressively high up the pitch against teams like Everton, certainly during the first-half.
The passive nature of our performance against the Toffees was summed up perfectly with that photo above.
Julen Lopetegui is a dead man walking at West Ham as far as I’m concerned, and it’s little wonder as to why with the archaic setup that he is currently presiding over.
