Tottenham Hotspur skipper Heung Min Son has been subject to massive speculations surrounding his future at White Hart Lane given his current contract situation at N17. The South Korean’s contract at North London comes due at the conclusion of the ongoing campaign, which has got the supporters nervous about the probables.
Spurs are looking at the possibility of losing Son next summer, and if the games he missed this season are to be citied, the Lilywhites are not ready to let through without the 32-year-old in the dressing room at the moment. And there have been recent reports suggesting Tottenham’s willingness to trigger a one-year option on his current contract that would keep the former Bayern Leverkusen star at Hotspur Way till 2026.
Son situation needs to be addressed
However, there have been reports surrounding the current probables that suggest the unhappiness in Son’s camp at Spurs decision to take up a one-year option over negotiating a new deal. And looking at the possibilities, former North Londoners scout Bryan King wants this to be addressed and resolved.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Tottenham News, King has urged his former employers to offer Son a new two-year contract and expressed his astonishment over Spurs not wanting to extend Son’s stay at White Hart Lane.
He said:
“The only way to quell talk of him leaving is by giving him a two-year contract. I don’t understand why there would be any problem with Tottenham unless his wages are proving to be a stumbling block.
“However, if you’ve got a player of that experience and that calibre, two years isn’t going to hurt your football club. Especially not when you see what some other players, who have only given a third of what Son has given to the club, are earning.
“He might be used more on the bench beyond next season. However, he is still an influence.
“He could be used to work alongside the coaches with some of the young front players.”
Looking at the current situation, Saudi Pro clubs have started to take notice and could pounce the Lilywhites skipper away from the Premier League.
At the moment, this is one of the urgent situations that needs to be resolved soon to ensure that off-field uncertainities don’t affect Son’s performances on the pitch.
