Mark Noble, West Ham United’s sporting director, has just set the record straight about one particular transfer rumour.
West Ham are expected to be busy once again in the transfer market this winter, and next summer as well.
Whilst Mark Noble is mostly involved with the youth setup now, he will still be very much aware of what’s going on at the London Stadium regarding transfer activity.
He was involved in our transfer business in the summer after all.
Whilst he might not take the lead role in identifying potential new signings, he still holds a top position at the London Stadium.
And one website has received a response directly from Noble apparently, regarding one potential January deal.
Mark Noble delivers emphatic West Ham transfer news
With the January transfer window just around the corner, it’s no surprise that the rumours have begun.
One of them might not have much truth to it though, it seems.
It was claimed earlier this week that West Ham want to sign Gonzalo Plata.
RTI Esporte claim that they’ve been told by Mark Noble that the links with Plata are ‘fake’.
The 24-year-old forward has bagged 13 goals and nine assists in 44 games for Flamengo this season (Transfermarkt).
He seems like a decent attacker, and has pace in abundance. However, is he good enough for the Hammers?
I don’t believe so no, or at the very least, signing him would be a massive risk.
So with that in mind, I think that Mark Noble rubbishing the Gonzalo Plata claim is actually very good news for West Ham.
