Manchester United are reportedly interested in Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku, who, according to L’Équipe, is unhappy with his limited playing time at the club. Paris Saint-Germain might also be considering a move for the French attacker.
Last month, Téléfoot asked Nkunku if his former club had shown any interest in bringing him back to the Parc des Princes.
“A Nkunku-Barcola duo at PSG?,” Nkunku laughed. “I don’t know what to say about that. But PSG is still a big club. Any approach this summer? No, no, no. I’ve always said there was no approach.”
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports Germany recently reported that Nkunku isn’t planning to move this winter. However, if his situation at Chelsea doesn’t improve by summer, he may start exploring his options.
The Telegraph Football reports that Chelsea would be open to selling Nkunku in January, but only if they can recoup the £52 million they initially paid for him.
Former player weighs in on Christopher Nkunku rumors
Amid the ongoing rumors linking Nkunku away from the Blues, former Chelsea star Glen Johnson insists the player would be ‘mad’ to consider leaving now and expects Nkunku to soon start having a big impact for Maresca.
“His start to life at the club was quite tough when he suffered his injury and we don’t know if he’s fully over that yet,” Johnson said (h/t TEAMtalk).
“In spells, we’ve seen some really good stuff from him and as Chelsea are going in the right direction, he would be mad to jump ship now.
“They’re in a much better position now and if he can get fit and get himself in the starting eleven, then Chelsea have a good player on their hands. He just doesn’t look fully fit yet.”
