Jamal Musiala was once forced to choose between representing two nations. Eligible to represent both England and Germany and desperately wanted by both nations, this dilemma drew a lot of attention from the footballing world.
The former Chelsea FC player’s eventual decision to play for Germany drew an even greater uproar. So when Musiala dispenses advice on choosing between two nations, he knows what he is talking about.
A chance to do so arose when he was asked in a pre-match press conference about Paul Wanner’s international future, as the young 18-year-old Bayern Munich prodigy struggles to pick between Austria and Germany. This is what the Germany international had to say: “It’s important for Paul to take his time and not look too much into what the media are saying. He has to decide for himself. But of course I’d like to have him here with us. I’ve known him for a while and know how good of a player he is.”
It really is all about blocking out the outside noise and making a decision of the heart. Though perhaps playing with stars such as Jamal Musiala may prove to be a boon as well…
