Bayern Munich star Harry Kane might not have been expecting to sit the bench vs. Greece during England’s 3-0 victory in the UEFA Nations League, but that is exactly where he found himself.
England interim head coach Lee Carsely said that Kane took the news in stride.
“He was absolutely fine. It would be fair to say he wants to play every game, like all top players do,” Carsely said. “I think he understands that it’s important that other players experience that kind of experience that we had tonight. He’s a great example to the rest of the players and I expect him to start on Sunday and play well.
“It was brilliant for Ollie (Watkins) to get a goal. It’s important that I think if we are going to put these players in a position where we are going to go and win the World Cup then these players need to have as many experiences as they can.”
Kane did go on to play roughly 25 minutes, but probably needed a blow anyway. Surely, Bayern Munich will not complain about Kane getting a little extra rest.
Paris Saint-Germain and FC Barcelona are both taking a close look at Napoli attacker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia:
PSG and Barcelona remain interested in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as contract negotiations with Napoli continue, per Gazzetta dello Sport. The Georgia superstar is under contract at Napoli until 2027, but his current deal sees him earn just €1.5 million ($1.6m) per season. Negotiations are set to continue this week, with Kvaratskhelia currently requesting a salary increase to just under €8m per season. PSG are reportedly willing to test Napoli’s resolve once more, after having a €100m bid for the 23-year-old rejected last summer.
Kvaratskhelia under Hansi Flick might really be something…
Bayern Munich is on break, but there is no shortage of topics to talk about. This is what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Weekend Warm-up Show:
- Breaking down the report from Sport1 about Bayern Munich’s rumored proposal to Jamal Musiala. What kind of money? How long? Why none of that really matters as much as having the ability now start to build around him as the club’s centerpiece.
- Bayern Munich is reportedly going to offload at least one winger this summer…who will it be? Can Paul Wanner help fill the void without Bayern having to spend for a replacement?
- João Palhinha is injured and some fans are unraveling, but it is not the end of the world even against a daunting schedule.
- Final thoughts on The Penguin.

Excl | Andrej #Kramaric’s contract with @tsghoffenheim will automatically be extended by one year until 2026 if he plays 20 games in the Bundesliga and the Europa League this season.
The 33-year-old striker is currently at a total of twelve games (5 goals, 2 assists).
New TSG boss Andreas Schicker wants him to stay as he already confirmed at Sky.
Kramarić was linked to Bayern Munich just a few years ago and was once referred to as “the best player I ever coached” by Julian Nagelsmann.
Let’s get this out of the way — this is not a Bayern Munich podcast (for this edition only), so we want to give you a fair warning for anyone seeking Bayern Munich or German national team chatter. However, this “special edition” will not affect your normal schedule…a Weekend Warm-up Show has already dropped at its normal day and time!
So…let’s talk about how this came to be…
After the disappointing second season of House of the Dragon, we had a lot of chatter about Game of Thrones, its legacy as a show, the possibilities for it going forward, etc. From that, an idea was sparked for re-watching the show and assessing if we were all vindicated for feeling so bitter about the ending…or if maybe time had healed some old wounds.
We will explore all of that and more. There are a lot of fun categories we take a look at…the good, the bad, and everything in between.
With Bayern Munich on a hiatus, there was no better time to do this and have all of our minds take a little break from what has been a crazy few weeks for the Bavarians.
If you want the written version, you can get it here.
So, enjoy this if you are into it…or don’t listen if you are not…just be rest assured, we will be turning back to our normal coverage ASAP!
Brazil could be preparing to break the bank to ink Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola as its next coach:

Bayern Munich, Arsenal FC, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea FC, Liverpool FC, and Newcastle United are among the teams interested in Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande:
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have both been scouting highly-rated Sporting CP centre-back Ousmane Diomande, who is also of interest to Chelsea, Liverpool and Newcastle United.
Per The Record (via 90Min.com), Bayern Munich is also in the mix:
Arsenal and Chelsea have already made moves for Diomande, but face competition from Bayern Munich for his signature.
Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann will lead the German national team into another set of UEFA Nations League games.
This time, Germany will face off with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary in what should be more matches for the Germans to build momentum on the road to the 2026 World Cup.
Nagelsmann will be dealing with the normal obstacles like injuries and illnesses, but the squad has enough depth and versatility to cover whatever pops up (it also does not hurt that Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala might be the hottest player in Europe at the moment).
Let’s just jump into, this is what we have in tap for this episode of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show:
- A look at Nagelsmann’s impact on the team and how things are going.
- Addressing some of what we know in terms of injured players and illnesses.
- Analyzing what to expect from each position group.
- Predictions on each match.
