So…you’re saying there’s a chance?
Despite earlier reports that Germany star Florian Wirtz had sealed his new Bayer Leverkusen contract — keeping him with Die Werkself for at least another season — it seems the deal has not yet been made official.
And that is leaving Bayern Munich, apparently, with an ounce of hope.
From Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:
As long as he didn’t put pen to paper on a new Leverkusen contract, Bayern will not give up on signing Florian Wirtz and will continue talks with his representatives [@Plettigoal]
It sure seemed as though Leverkusen was closing in on a renewed commitment from their biggest star, even with head coach Xabi Alonso’s own future with the team not so certain. Can the Bavarians really swoop in late and pull in a player that seems to be their dream for the upcoming summer transfer window?
