With Bild confirming the rumors of Bayern Munich’s interest in Jamie Gittens, the German outlet also took some time to address the report from Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg regarding the club’s rumored interested in Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams as well.
The verdict? True.
In addition to Gittens, Bayern Munich is looking very closely at Williams, who starred for Spain during the EURO 2024 competition, but has not found that same magic during the club season (two goals, five assists in 23 games across all competitions).
This is what Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) had to say about Williams:
@BILD confirms Sky/ @Plettigoal’s news: Bayern are interested in signing Nico Williams in the summer. The Spaniard has already been scouted by Bayern in the past and is listed very high on the internal list for the wingers of the future. Williams has a €60m release clause in his Athletic contract.
The €60 million release clause is not terrible, but is enough to make some doubt that Williams would be worth it, especially after a tough start to his 2024/25 campaign.
