Tottenham recently sent a scout to watch Vitor Roque in action for Real Betis against Rayo Vallecano
Tottenham Hotspur have had an almost unprecedented injury crisis in the ongoing campaign, with several absentees in every department largely contributing to the team’s underwhelming results and position in the Premier League table.
Spurs broke their club record in the summer by signing Dominic Solanke from Premier League rivals Bournemouth after his prolific 2023/24 campaign, where he netted 19 league goals. In addition, they also acquired top talents such as Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert, whilst bringing back Timo Werner on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig.
While the Lilywhites did enjoy a decent summer transfer window, a rebuild is the need of the hour. Solanke is slowly starting to show why the club splashed big on his services and he will only get better with time and experience. However, to keep the Englishman healthy and firing, Tottenham must sign a quality backup which Richarlison has failed to become owing to his persistent injury problems.

As patience within the club chiefs are running out with Richarlison, who has been linked with a return back to Brazil of late, Spurs are supposedly looking to reinforce the forward department in January.
According to Spanish outlet Relevo (h/t SPORT), Tottenham had a scout present at the Benito Villamarin to watch Vitor Roque in action during Real Betis’ match against Rayo Vallecano.
Spurs originally travelled to Spain to watch Johnny Cardoso, the Real Betis midfielder, for whom they have a buy option set for June. They are now exploring to bring the agreement forward to January, with Ange Postecoglou keen on midfield reinforcements. In addition, the North Londoners also enquired about Vitor Roque, who has become a key cog of Betis’ attack this season.

On loan from Barcelona for two seasons, the Brazilian striker supplied an assist in Betis’ 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano. The teenager has been in strong form for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, registering four goals and two assists in 15 LaLiga appearances to date. Betis have a €25million option to buy the player’s 80% rights, and while there is no immediate urgency to make a decision, rising interest from several clubs including Spurs could accelerate the process.

For now, Tottenham chiefs must keep monitoring Roque’s performances at Benito Villamarin, and if an opening arises in the winter window, they must not hesitate to strike.
