Tottenham will be trying to sign a new forward in January
Tottenham Hotspur coach Ange Postecoglou has attracted a lot of scrutiny after a mixed bag of results in recent weeks.
The Lilywhites have lost more games than they have won in the Premier League this season and are currently 11th in the table. That is simply not good enough for a club that spent millions in the past summer transfer window.
Injuries have been a mitigating factor, but Tottenham should still be doing much better. With every passing week, the objective to qualify for the Champions League is becoming a distant dream. Things aren’t looking great for Ange Postecoglou, which makes the January transfer window so crucial for him and the club.
Back in summer, Spurs broke their club record by signing striker Dominic Solanke from Premier League rivals Bournemouth. They also reinforced the offensive department by adding talented young winger Wilson Odobert from Burnley and re-signing Timo Werner on a season-long loan from RB Leipzig.

Sadly, Odobert has failed to make much of an impact as he has spent the majority of his opening months at N17 on the sidelines, while Werner’s move has simply not worked out. After the 1-1 draw with Rangers at the Ibrox in the Europa League earlier this month, Postecoglou publicly called out Werner’s performance as “unacceptable”.
Reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Tottenham are set to dip their toes in the January market for a new attacker following Richarlison’s injury problems and Werner’s underwhelming performances.
“Tottenham will do something, especially in the offensive positions to add one more player there where Richarlison has been injured, Timo Werner is not performing as they were expecting,” Fabrizio Romano said on the Men in Blazers podcast.
“So, I think Tottenham will do something there.”
Tottenham certainly need to address a couple of areas in the winter transfer window and the forward department is one of those. The Hotspur Way chiefs have been actively looking to replace Richarlison given their frustrations over his lack of availability due to injury problems. This has reduced the South American’s appearances on the pitch and time in the treatment room.

The North London side have been subject to links with Wolverhampton Wanderers star Matheus Cunha over the last few weeks. The versatile Cunha has been Wolves’ best player in an otherwise torrid 2024/25 campaign thus far, and he can be a smashing potential replacement for his compatriot Richarlison at White Hart Lane.

However, considering Wolves are embroiled in a relegation battle, Spurs will find it extremely difficult to persuade them to sell Cunha in January.
