A top West Ham source has confirmed there will be no recalls for any of the club’s loanees during the January transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to Claret and Hugh, the insider revealed that the club would rather recruit new players than bring back anyone currently out on loan.
When asked about the possibility of recalling James Ward-Prowse or Maxwel Cornet from their current agreements at Nottingham Forest and Southampton, the response was emphatic: “No, the clubs might let them back, but we’d prefer fresh players to them.”
This revelation quashes any hope of either player returning to cover West Ham’s mounting injury crisis in attacking positions. The source added: “We’re looking at 6-8 weeks without Bowen, and with Antonio out, it’s a big blow.”
Additionally, West Ham will not be recalling Nayef Aguerd, who has been exceptional in La Liga since moving on loan and has reportedly attracted interest from Real Madrid, among others
