West Ham United boss Julen Lopetegui is being almost negligent by continuing to start one specific player week in, week out.
Julen Lopetegui is under real pressure right now at West Ham, and he could be out of a job if we lose heavily to Manchester City.
The Spaniard only has himself to blame.
The Hammers have been quite frankly awful this season, and we’ve actually regressed since Lopetegui came into the club.
That’s quite the statement given how poor West Ham were under David Moyes during the second half of last term.
Lopetegui still doesn’t know his best team and continues to follow one bad decision with another time and time again.
His team selections have been eyebrow raising at times, and his over reliance on one underperforming player could end up costing him his job.
Julen Lopetegui can’t keep starting awful £80k/pw West Ham man
The Hammers’ awful season so far has been underpinned by really poor form from some of our keys players.
We’ve defended terribly as a team, with our porous back-line being ripped apart time and time again.
I think one of the main reasons we’ve been so poor at the back is due to one man in particular.
Konstantinos Mavropanos has been quite simply awful this season.
His appalling form has contributed to many of our heavy defeats, with the latest one coming at home against Liverpool on Sunday.
According to Salary Sport, Mavropanos earns £80k-a-week at the London Stadium.
Including the £20 million fee the Hammers paid to sign the Greece international (Evening Standard), we have clearly overpaid massively for him.
His concentration levels are incredibly poor and his positional awareness leaves a lot to be desired.
Mavropanos is extremely rash in the challenge and has an awful habit of making shocking individual errors on a consistent basis.
It’s time that Julen Lopetegui drops Mavropanos if he wants to keep the West Ham job.
His faith in the 27-year-old is seriously misplaced.
