Manchester City could be set to lose out in the battle for the signature of Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, according to reports.
Pep Guardiola’s side and Arsenal were believed to be leading the race to snap up the Brazilian, but the player is expected to make a decision that could end speculation about his future.
TBRFootball claim that Cunha is “close to agreeing” a new contract with Wolves, with the 25-year-old likely to put pen to paper soon.
He has been in excellent form this season, having scored 10 goals and contributed 4 assists in 19 Premier League appearances, prompting talk about a possible move away from Molineux.
However, it does appear as if Cunha will commit his long term future to Wolves, which would lead to City and other interested clubs moving on to other targets.

In addition to the Cityzens and Arsenal, it has been reported that Manchester United, Tottenham and Newcastle were weighing up moves for the Brazilian international.
Cunha is said to be enjoying life in the Premier League and, while he would undoubtedly be flattered by the interest being shown from other teams, it seems Wolves have worked hard on persuading him to stay.
Are City looking at any other forwards?
The Premier League champions have been credited with an interest in several strikers over the past couple of weeks, with the club keen to reinforce their front three.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush, Ipswich’s Liam Delap and RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko are among the names that City have looked at. It remains to be seen whether moves are made for any of these players this month or if they will wait until the summer before deciding to strengthen the forward line.
