Tottenham Hotspur has been looking to bring in a new midfielder in the ongoing winter transfer window as Ange Postecoglou is light in his roster in the middle of the park, and Daniel Levy is looking to hand the Australian new reinforcements in the position, with Richard Rios being among the options considered at N17.
The roster at Hotspur Way is light in the midfield following the departure of Pierre Emile Hojbjerg and Giovanni Lo Celso in the previous summer window and the club’s failure to replace the duo.
Spurs vying Richard Rios transfer
Now with the situation that Spurs are in the midst of the season, bringing in a dynamic presence is the need of the hour at White Hart Lane. And Tottenham have reportedly submitted an official bid for Palmeiras midfielder Richard Rios, per the latest by Area Napoli.
The report states that the Lilywhites approach for the Colombian midfielder was rejected by the Brazilian giants. Moreover, the North Londoners aren’t alone in their pursuit of the 24-year-old, with Italian side Napoli among the suitors alongside other European giants.
However, there are claims that Palmeiras are not planning to sell the 2004-born midfielder until after the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
With Levy and Postecoglou keen to ensure they get at least one midfielder through the doors at White Hart Lane, the standpoint of Palmeiras to hold firm on the midfielder should be something that can lead the Lilywhites to consider other options, with the likes of Angel Gomes and Frattesi already subject to links with a move to North London.
