It looks like January will be a very busy month for West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan.
The West Ham rumour mill went into overdrive on Monday, when it emerged that Julen Lopetegui was close to being sacked, with David Sullivan lining up Graham Potter to replace the Spaniard.
I personally think that Graham Potter will be an exceptional appointment for West Ham.
The 49-year-old will implement an exciting brand of football that the Hammers fans have been craving for years now.
David Sullivan absolutely has to get this appointment 100 per cent spot on.
Lopetegui never should have been given the job in the first place – he was a terrible appointment, and now Sullivan has to atone for that error.
However, the Hammers co-owner has another big issue on his plate at the London Stadium right now – one that he really needs to address as a matter of urgency.
David Sullivan must take action with West Ham man
There has been real turmoil at the London Stadium this season.
Lopetegui has failed to impress, and he is all set to lose his job as a result.
However, the 58-year-old isn’t solely to blame for our issues.
Some of the recruitment in the summer was really poor if you ask me, and Tim Steidten surely must shoulder some of the blame.
The 45-year-old German’s performance in his role as director of football is really under the microscope now.
According to The Guardian, Steidten has become a very unpopular figure at the London Stadium amongst some staff members.
The reasons for that are unclear, but I would suggest that his over involvement in first-team duties, especially during the first couple of months of the season, grated on Lopetegui and his coaching staff.
Steidten was a prominent figure early on this season, often speaking with the media and being continuously spotted out on the pitch prior to games.
However, the German has gone into hiding it seems over the past month or so, and it’s little wonder as to why.
His failure to add a young striker with explosive pace and a ball-carrying midfielder to our ranks was quite frankly negligent.
And now West Ham co-owner David Sullivan needs to step in and relieve Tim Steidten of his duties as far as I’m concerned.
If he really is that unpopular at the London Stadium, he needs to be moved on.
The German is overrated as far as I’m concerned, and I’ve only been impressed with one of his signings so far – Mohammed Kudus.
It’s time for a big change regarding how things are done at West Ham.
