Bayern Munich is preparing to face Borussia Mönchengladbach and some of the situations surrounding the squad’s health are developing — and not necessarily in a good way per kicker journalist Frank Linkesch.
Earlier this week, Jamal Musiala was considered to be working through a minor cold, but Linkesch says that might not be the case. Here is what the kicker journalist is reporting (via @iMiaSanMia):
Fitness update:
• Jamal Musiala: struggling with a quite heavy cold. He’s a doubt for Gladbach but should be fully fit again for Hoffenheim at the latest
• Josip Stanišić: missed the Salzburg friendly as a precaution due to muscular problems and will also miss Gladbach. Likely back in the squad against Hoffenheim
• João Palhinha: his recovery could take a bit longer. According to club sources, expected comeback date on January 22 against Feyenoord in the Champions League
• Hiroki Itō: expected to be back with the team in February
• Manuel Neuer & Serge Gnabry: both should be available against Gladbach
Interesting, the Palhinha news conflicts with information from Sport Bild (via @iMiaSanMia):
João Palhinha is expected to make his comeback against Hoffenheim in the second game of the year on January 15th.
Bild (via @iMiaSanMia), though, did back up the timeline on Stanišić:
Josip Stanišić missed the friendly against RB Salzburg due to a slight thigh strain. While his teammates were in Salzburg, Stanišić worked on his fitness in Munich and completed a rehab session. He will not be available against Gladbach on Saturday, but Stanišić wants to resume full team training again next week. He could be an option for the squad against Hoffenheim.
