Antonio Kinsky produced an impressive display on his Tottenham debut vs Liverpool in the Carabao Cup
Tottenham Hotspur will take a slender advantage to Anfield next month after they beat Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on Wednesday night.
A great goal from Lucas Bergvall in the 81st minute—his first time in a Spurs shirt—turned out to be the difference between both sides. It is just half time in the tie and while Ange Postecoglou’s side have an advantage, it will be a completely different challenge facing Arne Slot’s side at their perch.
Meanwhile, Wednesday’s game saw new signing Antonin Kinsky make his Tottenham debut. Signed from Slavia Prague only last week, the young goalkeeper was thrown at the deep end by Ange Postecoglou and he shone on his first game as a Lilywhite. He kept a clean sheet against a strong Liverpool side and produced some impressive moments throughout the 90 minutes.

The native from Prague was extremely calm and composed under pressure, pinging balls left, right and centre with his feet like a seasoned central midfielder that left the Tottenham Hotspur faithful in awe. Following the win over Arne Slot’s side, Postecoglou hailed Antonin Kinsky for his impressive debut and revealed what he noticed about him following their first talk.
“Brilliant. Fantastic. I got the sense when I spoke to him before we signed him that he had a bit about him in terms of assuredness that probably belied his years,” Postecoglou told the club’s official website.
“I threw him a mammoth task today to play against the best team arguably in the world at the moment, in a big game, a semi-final. He just handled it awfully well. Credit to Johan and his team, they were really big on him as a footballer who’s going to fit our style and work really hard to make it happen now. And you can see why. He’s an outstanding footballer.”
Dominic Solanke also praised Kinsky on his debut, explaining that he was very happy to welcome the young goalkeeper to Spurs and hopefully they can achieve something special together this season.

Indeed, Kinsky quickly adapted to the demands of the fast-paced nature of English football and calmly distributed the ball with both his feet. He was assured with his decision-making and commanded his box well. It was a bold decision from Big Ange to throw the Czech Republic goalkeeper straight in a big game, but the call paid rich dividends in the end.
